Belfast City Blues Festival Making Waves With Return of Blues on the Boat

The annual Belfast City Blues Festival will once again see the music take to the waves for the Blues On The Boat aboard the Lagan Boat Company’s Mona.

Blues legends Rab McCullough and The Rev Doc will headline the final cruise of the 2019 festival on Sunday June 30.

Music, food and drinks will be served on board a total of four cruises with top performers playing including Tony Villiers, Doc Doherty, the Lee Hedley Band and the Red Hot Roosters taking to the stage.

The cruises are now a regular feature of the Belfast City Blues Festival, which is in its eleventh year and boasts 65+ gigs at 24 venues across Belfast.

One of the biggest blues festivals on the island, with headline sponsors American Holidays and Visit The USA, it has a now loyal following flocking to the city for this celebration of blues music roots and present day incarnations.

Opening the cruise schedule on Friday June 28 is the rock ‘n’ roll fun of The Red Hot Roosters – guaranteeing a fun evening to kick things off.

Saturday afternoon sees Tony Villiers and Doc Doherty two great players, top tunes and afternoon not be forgotten.

That same evening sees the return of Lee Hedley & Co, bringing tasty licks to accompany the tasty food aboard the Mona.

Concluding with Rab McCullough and The Rev Doc the Blues On The Boat cruises have always proved popular, with the music, drink, food and craic making it essential to book early.

Festival Director Seamus O’Neill said: “The Blues On The Boat events are more than just fun, they’re a chance to catch up with friends old and new and listen to some great music.

Each cruise lasts two hours and complimentary food and drinks are included in the £35 ticket price.
