Two of the hottest acts in Ireland and the UK play the SOMA Festival, Castlewellan, as Honeyfeet are set to appear on the same night with the mighty vocals of Cormac Neeson for a show that defies genre boundaries at the County Down town’s St Malachy’s GAC on Friday, July 19th.
Honeyfeet and vocalist Ríoghnach Connolly have been acclaimed for their diverse and compelling style by the likes of The Guardian and BBC Radio 6, while The Answer singer Cormac Neeson has recently released a deeply personal solo album, ‘White Feather, fusing folk, country and fusion tracks.
It is a highly anticipated show amongst a stellar line-up of shows lined up for the SOMA Festival, including an intimate show with Scottish singer-songwriter, KT Turnstall.
Cormac will play for the first half of the evening, followed by Honeyfeet.
Neeson has completed a UK and Ireland tour in support of his solo album, earning praise and plaudits for the emotional honesty of the songs and performances.
As well as the headline acts the SOMA Festival hosts a range of events, sure to please lovers of traditional and contemporary arts.
Once again there will be SOMA Mind, Body and Soul to help everyone revitalise and relax with a range of alternative and holistic events across the weekend.
Festival director Tiona McSherry said everyone involved – and residents of Castlewellan and beyond – is looking forward to the festival.
“We’ve come far since that fabulous first incarnation of Soma, a humble weekend affair with one major, sublime concert; a few excellent masterclasses; an art exhibition (also excellent); a hotchpotch of traditional music sessions scattered throughout the town and a cast of dedicated volunteers running ragged making sure the whole thing didn’t come apart at the seams.”
With over 60 activities and events in this year’s festival, there is something for everyone. For times and ticket prices, view the full programme on the festival’s website or follow #TheSomaFestival on social media.
