Excalibur Press is set to host a practical workshop to help residents in the Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council area explore self-employment and discover how to turn their skills, passions or side hustles into a business.
Taking place on Wednesday, 12th November from 10am to 12pm at Portadown Town Hall, Side Hustles & Self Employment: How To Get Started In Business will introduce the Go Succeed: Get Started In Business programme, which is being delivered by Excalibur Press on behalf of Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council.
Led by Excalibur Press Chief Vision Officer Tina Calder, the session is designed for people who are not currently in work or unable to work traditional hours, offering them a supported and practical route into self-employment.
Tina said: “We’re passionate about helping people explore their potential and take control of their future. This session will help participants recognise their own skills, understand what it takes to start a business, and see how they can access free mentoring and financial support through the Go Succeed programme.”
The event will cover key elements of the Get Started In Business programme, including access to service user drop-in clinics, structured workshops, and up to 10 hours of one-to-one mentoring tailored to the needs of those who are economically inactive.
Attendees will also hear from a local entrepreneur, who will share insights into turning ideas into sustainable income opportunities.
Participants will be given full details of the bespoke mentoring framework, how they can apply for a £750 financial assistance package, and how to begin their own self-employment journey with support from the Go Succeed programme.

There are 25 places available for the workshop, which is open to anyone in the Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council area who is currently not in work or not actively job-seeking.
Tina added: “Even if you don’t have a business idea yet, this workshop will give you the confidence to explore what’s possible. From helping you understand your strengths to connecting you with expert mentors, it’s all about making self-employment feel achievable.”
