A new online workshop is set to help people in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area explore self-employment and discover how to turn their skills, passions, or side hustles into a business.
The first online workshop taking place on Thursday, 20th November from 10am to 12pm via Zoom, Side Hustles & Self Employment: How To Get Started In Business will introduce the Go Succeed: Get Started In Business programme, which is being delivered by Excalibur Press on behalf of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
Delivered in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council as part of the wider Go Succeed initiative, the session is aimed at individuals who are not currently working or unable to work traditional hours. It offers them a supportive and practical pathway to income generation through self-employment.
This informative hour-long session will help attendees uncover the skills and experiences they already have that could form the foundation of a business idea. It will also provide an introduction to practical tools and techniques for developing and testing ideas, identifying potential customers, and building confidence to take the first steps in business.
Facilitated by entrepreneur and trainer Tina Calder alongside a local entrepreneur, the session will explore everything from using your talents to create income opportunities to understanding your target audience and avoiding common pitfalls.
Participants will also hear about the Go Succeed: Get Started In Business programme’s wider support options, including access to up to 10 hours of one-to-one mentoring and the opportunity to apply for a financial assistance package to help kickstart their self-employment journey.
A spokesperson said: “This session is perfect for anyone who’s thought about doing something for themselves but isn’t sure where to start. Whether you’re a student, carer, retiree, parent without childcare, or someone managing health, confidence, transport or digital barriers, this workshop will help you explore what’s possible in a relaxed and supportive setting.”
There are 50 places available for this free online event, which aims to empower people to explore new opportunities and gain the confidence to take control of their future through self-employment.
